At the time of our story, Boston is one of the most important colonial cities in the American colonies.  The thirteen American colonies were well-established, with a population of 2.5 million and a geographic region greater than Great Britain!

The colonists were divided into Whigs (people who supported Britain) and Tories (those who favored independence).  There was also a group who felt both sides had merit and did not identify strongly as either.  The main issues at hand were how much power the British should have over the new colonies, who would control the new government, and whether individuals should have a say over their governing.  Several real-life players appear as characters in our book....  (scroll down for the chart)
