Cub Scout / Boy Scout Chronicles

Our son, Xander, loves the farm life!  I'm sure you'll see him many times over the course of our journey here at Homeschool On the Range.  If you love his work, click on the Xander tag at the bottom of this post to find more!

Cub Scouts is fun.  I earned my Arrow of Light!  I had fun in Cub Scouts.

My troop is made of Lions, Bears, and Webelos.  I crossed the bridge to big Boy Scouts.

This is the Arrow of Light and me in my uniform.
Kayaking is fun and wet.  We even play bumper boats!  There are many different colors of kayaks.

These are my cousins.  We are all Boy Scouts.  They are Cub Scouts. We went camping together!  It was a lot of fun!

We pitched a tent with some help from our Grandpa.

I had to make sure the stakes were in the ground extra good so that it didn't blow away!  I brought my new multi-tool with me.  It has a Lego Yoda keychain on it.

We had a lot of fun in the tent together!  We told stories and played games.  We stayed up late and got up really early when the sun came up.  We were tired the next day.

My mom forgot to read the Boy Scout motto, "Be Prepared."  She didn't have s'mores stuff, so we used nilla wafers, chocolate chips, and some marshmallows.  They were still pretty good.

It was too windy to make a big campfire, so we had to toast the s'mores in the microwave.  We just had hot dogs and s'mores over the campfire the other night (July 4th), and these weren't nearly as yummy, but they were still good.  AND it was fun to watch them explode in the microwave!!

Twenty Mile Hike for 'big' Boy Scouts

I had to hike twenty miles for scouts for one of my Eagle required badges.  Do you know how long twenty miles is?!  It is  VERY LONG WAY!
I found a snake and a spoon...

We started on the dirt roads, really early in the morning and then went off onto trails.  My brother and mom came with me.

Boy Scout Badge Projects

I'm following up on my seed germination science experiment...and there was a surprise result!  Also, I'm talking about seed starting with our Aerogardens.

Today I did a video about building a pole barn, and I covered the wood we used, how we built it, and the accessories that we built to go with it . ENJOY!

This summer, I worked on several badges at Boy Scout camp and one at home.  I have also been thinking about doing a Little Free Library for my Eagle project.

Here I am working on a basket with the help of my Craftsman Crate kit.
Still working on it.  It takes a long time to make a basket!

I made a square one and a round one, and then we made a stool that the chickens are using for a perch now.
We put a handle on one of the square ones.
Grandma likes the little round ones.  All finished!

Someone came a smashed our mail box with a baseball bat.  We were not happy.

At Boy Scout camp, I worked on electronics.  I got to bring home an electronics kit to finish.  I had to solder all of the pieces together and then it made a light and a siren sound.  It works!
Here I am doing my rifle shooting merit badge!

We built this robot from a kit.  It is motion activated.  I had a little bit of help with building it, but it was fun!  You can also hear my siren in this video for the electronics.

I got 2 Little Free Libraries for my Eagle project! Here I am opening them. One of them is blue, and the other is green.
Here is a part of the green one. Here we are starting to build them. The blue one is almost done!
And so is the green one. We had to use the drill. And it is just about complete!
We are social distancing.  They are done!
Here they are all done !

I installed one of them at the Homeschool House's Book Shack.I put the other one at Anthony's in Prague.
