Tending Babies: Chicks and Owlets

Our son, Xander, loves the farm life!  I'm sure you'll see him many times over the course of our journey here at Homeschool On the Range.  If you love his work, click on the Xander tag at the bottom of this post to find more!

Chicks are easy to take care of -- they need chick starter and water.  Some of them are white, and these white ones are difficult to put up.

Here's a white one.  They love space to play in!

As you can see, we made a pen out of a wagon chicken wire.

They poop a lot...yuck!!  They also poop in their food and water...yuck!! The one chick that's staring at the camera is named Smores.

We put 2 perches in the pen.

 They love to perch!

Here is a gold chick.  The chicks like to cuddle up in a corner and sleep.  They also eat a lot of food.

Baby owls are cute and big.  The twins are ok until they eat your chickens...

We have a hen that is sitting on some eggs right now.  When they hatch out, we could have several new chickens!

**Update - a very bad raccoon got all our baby chickens.  I am mad about that.**
