Xander's Farm

Our son, Xander, loves the farm life!  I'm sure you'll see him many times over the course of our journey here at Homeschool On the Range.  If you love his work, click on the Xander tag at the bottom of this post to find more!

This is my first post.  My name is Xander and I live on a farm.  I like working with my animals and growing plants.  I hope you like animals, too!  This is Shrek....

In this episode, you will get to meet our chickens!

I will be showing you how we built our chicken coop, and how easy it is to build your own.  I will be giving you a tour of our chicken coop and telling you about how to take care of chickens.  You'll learn a lot in only four minutes!

Shrek, the rooster, is the boss of the chickens and also the leader.  Here is a picture of the rooster leading the hens.

 Here is a hen by herself.

 This is Shrek, our roster, and he's big!  Our hen is following him.

 Our chickens love green grass, and they like to walk on the porch.  They will also poop on the porch....ewww!  They also like looking for bugs in the rocks.

 Here is their chicken coop -- we have to clean it once a week, or every 2 weeks.

 They like to scratch for worms, and they will run when the roster finds something. Here is Old Yeller.  We named her that because she's yellow.  We raised her from a chick.
